Unity 12’s mission is twofold:

1)          To create a unique facility where Disabled People can access all their Independent Living needs under one roof

2)          To provide high quality, high specification, fully accessible conference and meeting facilities at a price that community groups can afford. “Stadium Quality at Church Hall Prices!”

facilities, meeting rooms and

office space. For the first time,

organisations can book

conferences, meetings or hire

office space, safe in the

knowledge that our facilities

are designed from the ground

up to be fully and

automatically accessible.

Unity 12 is run, controlled and managed by Disabled People.

We are owned by:

·     Southampton Centre for Independent Living (SCIL)

·     Disability Advice & Information Network (DAIN)

·    Hampshire Coalition of Disabled People (HCODP)

The aims of Unity 12 are:

To develop a ‘one-stop-shop’ for Disabled People wishing to live independently; consisting of a fully accessible building which provides a range of different services, provided by different tenant organisations which support people to live independently.

To provide accessible conference facilities, meeting rooms and ancillary services to enable other organisations to be more inclusive of Disabled People in the services they provide.

To provide fully accessible and cost effective office space, to enable tenant organisations to provide appropriate complementary services that support Disabled People to live independently. (We prefer tenant organisations to be ‘user-led’ themselves)
